Mobile Mondays :)

Probably the cutest thing I've ever heard.. or read. Because it was a text message..

Me: I was talking to an old lady today at work, and i told her I wanted to skip straight to the grandma thing-because then you get all ther perks of having kiddies, but you get to send em home at the end of the day lol. But she told me i had to earn it :( haha

A: awww thats cute :P but nooo you shouldnt skip the inbetweenssss :( that just means less time for us if you cheat ahead ;)

What can I say? I'm head over heels. :)

Cute text messages. They make me happy. :)

Mobile Monday

I'm BACK!

My facebooking-blogging-emailing-pictureposting-best friend is back.
That's right! I got my Internet connection back up and running, and I couldn't be more excited! :)
To be honest, it's been quite a sad blog-less existence lately, and I've really really missed reading all of your updates. I'm so glad Mondays are my relaxing almost-day-off day, so I can spend all afternoon catching up on my favorite people's posts and commenting like it's my job!

This month, instead of blogging, I've resorted to phone snapshot-taking. My poor cell phone memory basically has a picture baby, because I've taken and refused to erase so many. But, anyways, I figure, it's Monday. And what would be a better way to show you a snapshot of what I've been doing, then literally showing you snapshots of what I've been doing? So, from my mobile device to your computer screen, I introduce Mobile Mondays! :)

I've spent most of my time:

Making plenty of late night Taco Bell runs.

Dreaming about car shopping. I think it's almost about that time...
PS: I thought the mileage number here was wicked cool!

Watching lots and lots of football!
PS: I am not a Raven's fan, FYI. ;)
My ♥ belongs to the Steelers & the Broncos.
This picture was sent to me by a Raven's fan, from the game.

Eating Doughnuts

And wishing I was here:

Or even here:

Instead of here:

But, hey, it's not Burger King. And I can't always have it my way.
But, there is good news! I heard through the grapevine that this little fella didn't see his shadow, and you know what that means!! So maybe, just maybe, us summer babies will be okay.

Phil's Picture via here.

I hope that everyone's been fabulous this month! I'm off to play catch-up on your lovely blogs!

Happy Monday!!

Chick-Fil-A Tuesdays!!

It's Chick-Fil-A Tuesday!!!
In a household of fruits, veggies, and balanced meals, a break from the health regime is welcomed warmly once a week for a fast food splurge. Back in the day, my family had Pizza Night every Friday, where we either ordered out or made our own, taking a breather from all the hype of eating right. Granted, that was in an age before the midnight texting and date nights consumed Friday evenings, and when after school activities made weekday eating turn into weeknight eating. Nowadays, we eat together much earlier during the week, and therefore, have a new tradition: Chick-Fil-A Tuesdays!

What is your guilty pleasure?

You Know You're an Addict When...

You know you're addicted to the blog-scene when this looks like a small price to pay for blogging enjoyment:

It's official: I must be addicted. I didn't realize just how necessary the world of blogging was to my happiness, until this thing called the Internet stopped working, about a week ago. I am now officially going through blog withdrawals. I've got all the symptoms:
- severe boredom.
- racing creative thoughts with no outlet, whatsoever.
- anxiousness around other people's working computers.
- intense feelings of disappointment when words like "30 days of truth" and "jpeg image" pop into normal everyday conversation (which seems to happen much more frequently during blog withdrawals).
It's not the being-an-addict part of this realization that I have a problem with. In fact, I think I like my addiction. But I'm having the biggest problem accepting that there isn't a cure. Unless you count blogging from the inside of a parked minivan in a library parking lot as some sort of a remedy.
The worst part was when I decided to take pictures with my cell phone to show you exactly what my addiction has turned into, I got the dreaded "Low Battery" beep and scrambled to find my car charger, so I could take pictures. Look what I have turned into!!!! Good thing I only have 5 more days until the Saint of Internet Connections creeps down my chimney to fix the issues I'm having.
Yeahhh.... Happy New Year.

The Stockings Were Hung By The Chimmneys With Care

So, I have  no idea if I've spelled "Chimmneys" correctly, but you know what? Who cares?! Because you know why? It's almost CHRISTMAS!! :)

With all of the decorations hung, and the gifts wrapped and stowed under the tree, it's finally beginning to feel festive around here. And it's about time. :) The only thing that could make this holiday night any better would be reliable Internet access from home, so I wouldn't have to huddle in my minivan with frozen fingers in the parking lot, mooching off of the local library's WiFi connection.
I must be a weirdie.

^ some of the cute holiday cards the kids made me, before break ^

Hope everyone has a fabulous holiday!!

Tis The Season!

So the other day, I went to Starbucks (which I consider a heavenly treat!) and was uber excited when I saw that they have their seasonal red cups!! I'm sure the coveted cups have been out for a while, considering it was about a week before Christmas that I was lucky enough to snatch one up, but nevertheless I was overjoyed.

Red Cups = Christmas is coming
Coffee = Love
Coffee + Red Cups = Love + Christmas is coming = ♥ !!!

Today has been my first day off from life in foreverrrrrr! So, in celebration, I slept my day away and crawled out of my warm covers only for pepperoni quesadillas, made fresh by my mama, just for sleepyheads. Events for the day include:
1. Wrapping bunches of last minute Christmas presents in the comfort of my *ahem* very "lived in" room (aka totally messy!)
2. Thinking about cleaning up the pre-mentioned messiness.
3. Laughing at this idea, and watching lots of Christmas movies instead. :)

4 More Days!!

What are your Pre-Christmas plans??

Brrrr...

Dear Winter,
I can't believe it has almost been an entire year since I've seen you. It feels like just a few days ago that you were biting my nose. Don't get the wrong idea! I definitely love having you around, I just think you've been overworking yourself lately! You could definitely go for some vacation time. How about Florida? Or Argentina? Or the Bahamas? You haven't been there in eons! Yes, I will miss you terribly, but don't worry about me. You deserve a get-away. So really, get out there, and get away! :)
Love you bunches!
Love,
Erika

This morning, I crawled out of my snug bed, drank me some steamy coffee, and slipped into one of my favorite warm sweaters. Before heading off to class this morning, I contemplated grabbing a coat. But then I decided, why would I do that? I was warm. Correction: I was warm, inside. I guess I just didn't quite realize it was going to be 24 degrees outside and that the heater in my car would start smelling funny, causing me to turn it off and consequently have frozen finger-pops! I guess I also didn't realize that there would be no where to park on my school campus and that I would have to walk almost 15 minutes to get to my warm classroom!! Needless to say, my sweater wasn't as warm as I was hoping it would be.. But it's one of my favorites, and really really cute. :) But I learned my lesson: If you want to look cute in the winter, listen to your mother, and wear a cute coat.

All Kinds of Wonderful

This week has consisted of:
- dozens of twinkling Christmas lights
- extensive charges to my Kohl's account, courtesy of "holiday shopping" :)
- a hot and steamy affair almost every morning (with my breakfast, of course!)
- a *lovely* interaction with a not-so-helpful police officer regarding my stolen license plates :(
- and lots, and Lots, and LOTS of last minute homework projects.

My case study for elementary reading basically consumed my entire Monday, which was one reason for no blogging. But I learned my lesson: I will not procrastinate anymore. Starting tomorrow. ;)

This week has had it's ups and downs, but as busy as it has been, surviving through it means I'm one week closer to winter break and one week closer to CHRISTMAS! I'm soo excited that it's finally socially acceptable to listen to holiday tunes in public. Because I work at a department store, I've been hearing them since the beginning of September, but I've secretly enjoyed them the entire time. :) One the best parts of my holiday preparations, in addition to the cookie-baking and stocking-hanging is the tree-trimming!

One of my top men :)

I'm just so excited and can't wait for the next few weeks to fly by. Especially finals week. That week can fly away if it really wants to..

How has your week been?

A Day In My Shoes.

Every other typical Tuesday starts off with the much anticipated late-for-class-again looks from my math professor, then builds up in excitement after hanging out with a bunch of third graders for the afternoon, and often concludes with the usual rustling of papers and keyboard strokes as much prolonged homework reminds me of it's existence. All in all, Tuesdays are pretty, well, normal.
But not today! Today was different. It started off with my stunning the class as I snuck in at a record-breaking 8 minutes late. From that moment, I knew it was going to be a crazy kind of day. Everyone expects to see the sleepy blonde roll in to the 8am elementary math class at a typical 8:06. But this morning, I kept everyone in suspense for an extra two minutes. Can you say "woah?!". Definitely not a typical start to a Tuesday.

But besides my tardiness, math surprised me with a big fat F. Typically, I strive for those B's. I'm so awful at math, so if I get above a C, I'm ready to throw a party. F's generally aren't part of the "let's-throw-a-party" mindset, so I was incredibly disappointed. Well, technically, I wasn't informed of my failing status, but after looking over our tests, my professor said he will be giving a re-test on Friday and that almost every student should opt for the second chance. So I'm pretty sure that means I failed. While the original grade might not be worth a fiesta, I'm pretty stoked I get a second chance. And the fact that I'm not the only one who is deserving pretty much added to the stokedness.

So, let's fast forward now: past the hour of hanging with cute eight year olds, past my *awesome* lunch, and right up to my date with a psycho professor. I'm just kidding: he's entirely psycho, just incredibly enthusiastic for physics. Which, considering that opposites attract, may be the reason we get along so well. But enough about our chemistry in physics, and more about our date. I had missed a very important test a few weeks ago and as luck on this incredible Tuesday would have it, I was allowed to make it up. So after my morning festivities, I hiked over to campus to hang out with my teach as I crammed for a test. But as if being able to make up the long lost test wasn't sweet enough, I made an A!! Which, never happens. Actually, it never has; This was my very first A in Physics Class all semester. Too bad we only have 3 more class meetings to go before the final. But, regardless, it's never too late for an A. :)

I was so excited, and extremely motivated, after the success that I marched down to Student Services to sign up for my upcoming (and hopefully last) semester. Like most other college bound Americans, tuition for school (in addition to a few unexpected and poorly planned mall trips) has all but bled me dry. But after signing up for my last five classes, I had to fork over a whopping....... seventy five dollars. That's right $75 for a semester of classes!! Fine print: I didn't technically sign up for an entire semester because I've been wait listed for two of my classes. But paying less than $100, after scholarships, for three of them definitely made my day a little brighter.

Today probably couldn't get much better.
Correction: As I type this, my tivo died. Actually died! Grey's Anatomy, Dead. Private Practice Dead. Jimmy Kimmel? Yeah, he died too. Today probably couldn't get much worse.
Thank goodness my dad is a nerd. ♥
Today probably couldn't get much better.

All in all, Tuesday's are pretty, well, normal. But not today. Today was different. :)

30 Days of Truth

hon·es·ty [on-uh-stee] –noun, plural
1. truthfulness, sincerity, or frankness.
2. freedom from deceit or fraud.
Over the past few days, I've been seeing a lot of bloggers jumping on the 30 Days of Truth bandwagon. At first, I was a bit skeptical; after all, shouldn't we be honest all the time? But after reading other bloggers' frank renditions of the truth, I realized that the idea of being completely truthful for 30 days was not only challenging but completely genius. Needless to say, I too am jumping on the wagon. Sign me up for honesty!
I decided that Mondays seemed like a fantastic day to say it like it is, so for the next 30 weeks (wow, that seems like soo long...) Mondays will be dedicated to telling the truth. If you like the idea and want to climb aboard, you can click here to find the list of things to be honest about this month.

Today's truthful tidbits are about what I dislike most about myself.. Way to start off positive, right? Honestly, I've come to accept a lot about myself and appreciate the good with the less-than-good. I know that no one is perfect, but in order to be capable of loving anyone or anything else, I think you have to love yourself first. So, yes, I'm conceited: I love myself. I love my bad handwriting, and my tendency to reach for the ice cream tub before I reach for the Special K box, but what I love the least is my procrastination. There! I said it! The truth is I procrastinate horribly. I put off everything from waking up, to going to sleep, to writing that 5 page paper, to catching up on Grey's Anatomy episodes. See? My procrastination is SO STRONG it's completely taken over every aspect of my life. I'd might as well not even resist it- it's going to win anyway. Right now, I'm even multitasking on my procrastination. I'm focussing really hard on putting off this case study I have to do on a child for my Acquisitions of Reading class, while at the same time I'm taking my sweet time getting ready to leave for Physics class.. Talk about the talent! :) I suppose that if I could change one thing about myself it would be this ability to procrastinate so well and the ability to work well under pressure. Because, honestly, it's what I love the least.

Be Happy :)

WeIt

I have so much to be thankful for and so many reasons to smile. So, today I decided to make a list of everything that I love and makes me smile. Ok, not everything. Listing that many things would take way too long, so I'm limiting myself to 100. :)

Here are my first five:

1. Crunchy Leaves
WeIt

2. Poloroids

WeIt

3. Oversized Handbags

WeIt

4. Shopping
WeIt

5. My Puppy, Pepper

What makes you smile?

Just a small town girl...

I'm just an ordinary girl with an ordinary life, who decided to start up a blog on a whim. Why not, right? It can't be thaaaaat hard, right? Wrong. I've sat here for twenty minutes already staring at this blank page. Already harder than I thought.
I guess I should start off by telling you who I am. So here it goes...

1. My name is E.
2. I LOVE Mocha Cooladas
3. I am a Pro-cras-tin-a-tor.
4. I am a firm believer that EVERYTHING happens for a reason.
5. I have over 60 pairs of shoes.
6. I read Fitness and Shape Magazines while eating chocolate ice cream.
7. I'm saving my pennies to buy a hotrod...until then, I'm driving a....minivan. Ew. :(
8. I love cheesy romantic movies.
9. Tim Tebow is my hero.
10. I have a tendency to talk way too loud way too often.

Some days will be interesting. Some will be funny. And some will bore us both to tears. But, hey, that's life. And that's my blog.
